New Jersey Governor Gets Boost in Polls
Sunday July 16, 2006
In a recent poll, New Jersey Governor is enjoying a boost in popularity as voters are blaming the State's Legislature for the budget stalemate that shut down the casinos in Atlantic City earlier this month.
Corzine's 44 percent approval rating in the Quinnipiac University poll released Friday is his best showing since January, according to Clay F. Richards, assistant director of the poll. Meanwhile, 71 percent of those polled said they disapprove of the way the Legislature is handling its job, with only 20 percent saying they approve. That's the lowest approval rating in a decade.
Fifty-eight percent of those surveyed by the poll blamed the Legislature for the delayed budget while 19 percent blamed Corzine, and 14 percent blamed both.
