Poker Players Alliance Seeking Members

Tuesday July 25, 2006
I have been receiving hundreds of questions about the proposed ban on internet gambling since the House of Representatives passed the bill to make online gambling illegal. All of the questions I received have been from online poker players and not from those who play other games online. This is easy to understand since there is an estimated 23 million poker players.

The Poker Players Alliance is a non-profit Las Vegas-based lobbying group that formed a few months ago with the primary purpose of combating an online betting ban under way in Congress. It is gaining membership and some measure of respect. They keep their members informed on the latest news concerning legislation that affects online poker. If you play poker online they need your support to help with the lobbying efforts to fight the ban on Internet Poker.

Membership in the Poker Players Alliance starts at $20 and when you join you will receive the membership package that includes your membership card, pin and T-shirt. This is a one-time lifetime membership and beyond the membership package, you will receive updates on actions by the federal government and state governments that affect your rights. If you play Poker online and want to continue to do so, you MUST join the Poker Players Alliance.

Twenty-three million poker players and you haven’t raised a comment in 5 or 6 days? Don’t look promising from here, bud (but what do I know? And, besides,
I don’t play poker anyway.)

You need somebody savvy in Marketing to get it out to the great unwashed. That’s not me, either. Maybe you could elicit some sympathy (and even a buck or two) by getting some mention among free-market types (LewRockwell.com; Mises.org; Cafe Hayek; TechCentralStation.com–and there are many more).

Good luck.

I got here through a link from Ace of Spades. I will pass the link on to my real-life poker buddies who all play. This hasn’t gotten a lot of attention yet. Just wait until we can’t connect or deposit.
