Comps Are Not A Status Symbol

Thursday July 27, 2006
Some players erroneously equate their self worth with the level of comps they are receiving from the casino. Nothing could be further from the truth and you should never look at comps this way. The casinos issue comps base on your theoretical LOSS. This means that the players with the most comps are the biggest losers. They are paying for their comps in the long run.

Not entirely true. Slot players generally receive substantially higher value comps than table game players.

Obviously slot players are going to get bigger comps than table players since they are bigger suckers. About 75% of casino profits come from slot players. In days when political correctness was not in vogue,Vegas Blacjack dealers referred to slot playing as “mental masturbation.” T’is still true today.
