Sands Casino to Close in Atlantic City

Sunday October 22, 2006
The Sands Casino in Atlantic City will close on November 11, 2006. This will bring to an end the 26 year run as one of the original casinos on the New Jersey boardwalk. The closing was confirmed by Sand's President George Toth.

At 6 am on the day of the closing gamblers will be asked to leave the casino floor. The hotel guest will have to be out by noon and then the casino will be locked and closed to the public.

The Sands was recently purchased by Pinnacle Entertainment who plans to demolish the present casino and build a $1.5 billion resort in its place.
