New Games All About Electronics

Thursday November 16, 2006
This year's Global Gaming Expo is the biggest ever and the it is an electronic gamers paradise. Many of the new slot machines being introduced at the show are high tech with vivid graphics, quality sound and interactive games designed for the player who grew up playing video games. These are not your mother's slot machines.

It's not just the slot machines that are electronic wonders. Table games, such as Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette and others are being introduced as multi-player electronic games.

Online poker players will feel right at ease playing at the new electronic poker tables being shown by three different companies. Each player has their own screen in front of them and the community cards are also displayed in the center of the table. These games work off a server like the online games and require no dealer. Players are dealt more hands per hour like online play but they have the chance to sit at the same table with live opponents.

Dan…..Duh !! That’s like giving an alcoholic a couple free drinks.
BTW I much prefer human dealer and people to the electronic versions. With me,any kind of slot machine is a non-starter.

The new Corporate Casino owners are more interested in profits than the players experience. They are taking the fun out of the games. For example, in Atlantic City, when the Borgata opened, they had coinless slot machines. They advertised them as ‘cleaner’ and more convenient than lugging coins around. The truth is, the Casinos save a lot of money by not having to deal with coin handling. Quickly thereafter, the other Casinos followed suit. Much of the fun and excitment is now gone from playing the machines. Heck, I can stay home and play on my computer if I want to play an electronic or virtual game. When I take the time to visit the casinos, I expect the real experience. I challenge someone to open an ‘old-fashioned’ casino, where they use coin buckets, change people, the sounds of coins falling in the tray. Management is just not in tune with what the customers really want.

Bingo !!!… Jeff. The money grubbers realize machines are very productive employees. No coffee breaks, vacations and fringe benefits. If a machine goes “on strike” a technician has it up and running in minutes. Must keep those productive bandits running non-stop 24/7. Only way the Casinos will change is for players to vote with their feet.
