Australian Pokies Promote Responsible Gambling

Tuesday November 21, 2006
Slots in Australia are called "Pokies" and a new line of machines have been launched that have a feature allowing players to keep track of their spending and the odds of winning "the big one."

The machines also tell players how much they will spend each game if they make a particular choice, as well as their spending per minute and per hour of play. These new machines are designed to promote responsible gambling by letting the players know exactly how much money they are spending.

Even though the new law is designed to promote “Responsible Gambling”it is still none the less than an intrusion upon one’s personal freedom. I don’t think any Australian “Pokie” players ever asked for their gambling habits to be tracked regardless of the outcome. Anyone with even a small amount of intellegence can understand the possible outcome of this form of gambling. All you have to do is count your money! So,thanks for the insult to our fellow Austrailians. At least they are still allowed to continue to play their Pokie machines for the time being…Those poor Yankees are done with their internet gambling, at least for the time being, thanks to some new banking laws being put into effect having the ultimate result of restricting internet gambling. Oh well, whadda ya goin ta do a’bout it eh?
