The Fremont Hotel and Casino - Review
Thursday February 8, 2007
When I visit Las Vegas I am looking for good games to play. I also want a clean room that is affordable leaving me more money for entertainment. The Fremont Hotel and Casino located in downtown Las Vegas offers everything I'm looking for. Here is my review.

I think Mr. Burton should walk around Downtown a little more. Yes the kight show is great and Fremont Place is an experience but if you want to win then try the Golden Gate Casino.
Accurately billed as Las Vegas’ “Most Historic Hotel” by former Mayor Jan Laverty Jones in a 1996 ceremony, the Golden Gate has stood the test of time and then some.
Since opening as the Hotel Nevada in 1906, this modest, cozy establishment has stood placidly at One Fremont Street while the town — and the world — changed around it.
Fortunately, very little has changed at the hotel in the intervening years. The hotel remains proudly dwarfed by its neighbors, at just 106 rooms. Many of the original wood fixtures remain in place. The casino is just as active as opening day — and just as intimate. Its shrimp cocktail 99 cents for the small 2.49 for large is GGGreat..((– widely acknowledged as the first ever served in Las Vegas — is as popular as the day it was introduced.
If you are interested in playing Slot Machine Keno try the ‘Gold Coast’. Its a very small casino off of Fremont Place. This is where all the locals go to play. I hit a Jackpot at both the Golden Gate and the Gold Coast…..and a tax form along with it.The winnings certainly paid for our trip and a future return to Vegas.
So Bill, you can keep your Fremont, I’ll keep the Gold gate and the Gold Coast.
Having stayed at many strip hotels and others downtown, we agree with Mr. Burton, the Fremont Hotel and Casino is a terrific bargin.
The food at the buffet is good, they even make omlets to order at breakfast. They serve wonderful warm cinnamon buns.
The rooms are clean and neat.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
My only objection is the odds at the craps tables are only 2 times. Their sister hotel the Main Street Station is 20 times (not that I would ever play 20 times odds but I do like 3X, 4X and 5X odds).
