Casino Mogul Eyes Massachusetts
Sunday August 5, 2007
Reports that Sheldon Adelson, who heads Las Vegas Sands Corp met with privately with Massachusetts House Speaker Sal DiMasi last week have been appearing in several newspapers around the country. The meeting is said to be regarding a proposal that Adelson made to bring a billion dollar gaming resort to the State.
Adelson's company owns three casinos in Las Vegas, including the Venetian, and has two properties in Macau. He is a former Massachusetts resident, with friends and family there. He said he will make decisions about developing a casino in Massachusetts if and when the state allows gambling and depending on the conditions at that time.
There is much speculation that Massachusetts elected officials will pass legislation to allow casino gambling in the State in the near future.
