Players Receive Extra Credit

Monday August 20, 2007
Slot machines at the tracks in Rhode Island are actually video terminals and one at Twin River (formally Lincoln Park) has been paying out hundreds of thousands of dollars over the course of three months do to an error made during installation. The machine was installed in May but removed on July 15th when it was discovered that a doubling feature had been accidentally turned on. The machine gave players double the amount of credits when they inserted money into the machine. A player inserting $20 into the machine would receive $40 worth of credits.

What I find truly amazing is that the machine lasted as long as it did without anyone from management discovering the glitch. Gtech, the company that supplied the machine, says it has reimbursed the state the $450,115 that the terminal paid out.

Funny that you first have to lose about 450k to realise there might be something wrong.
