Poker Players Alliance Moves to DC

Monday September 3, 2007
The Poker Players Alliance (PPA) will be moving from their offices in San Francisco to Washington DC where the organization can be closer to the politicians and lawmakers who will be determining the future of online gambling. PPA founder Michael Bolcerek is stepping down as executive director and will be replaced by John Pappas. Former New York Senator Alphonse D'Amato will continue to serve as Chairman of the PPA.

The PPA has been actively working to repeal the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act passed in 2006. I am a member of the PPA and have sent letters to my State Representatives and Senators via the PPA website. I was not sure if my efforts would matter but last week I received a letter from Congressman assuring me he was familiar with the repeal bill introduced by Representative Barney Frank (D-MA) and that he would monitor the legislation. I'm sure my single letter will not make a big difference but that is why the PPA is encouraging everyone who wants to legally play poker online to contact their Congressperson!
