Kansas to Own Casinos
Monday October 1, 2007
The State of Kansas will soon be getting into the casino gambling business by becoming the first State to own and operate Las Vegas Style resort casinos. Kansas presently has four Indian Casinos but a new law recently passed will allow the State to put slots at the two existing racetracks and build and operate its own casino.
Private contractors will run the daily operations but the State of Kansas will own the operation including the buildings. Workers at the casino will not be State employees but will work for the company contracted to run the operation. By owning the casinos the State will see a higher percentage of the gambling revenue.
