Sports Books Tackled by Favorites

Monday December 31, 2007
The end of the regular NFL season has come to an end and like last year the Nevada Sports books took a hit when the big favorites covered the spread in the majority of the games. Traditionally, the general public tends to bet on the favorites more than the underdogs. Popular teams such as the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys each covered the spread in at least 10 games.

Early in September the Dogs were barking and the Sports books held a profit of 16 percent. This dropped down to under two percent in October. Although official figures have not been released, November and December were equally grim for the Sports books as the general betting pubic enjoyed a profitable season thanks to the favorites covering the spread. If the favorites continue their run throughout the play offs and Superbowl, It could be a very good year for those who bet the favorites.
