Predicting the Superbowl Winner

Wednesday January 30, 2008
Sunday is the Superbowl and more money will be bet on the game than any other sporting event all year long. Because of the NFL copyright on the name, the casinos and some other companies are not allowed to use the name Superbowl in their advertisements for parties and promotions. So they have to refer to it as the Big Game.

Many player are looking for an edge and I have seen two handicapping systems that claim to have a winning record for picking the winner. This year the two systems have predicted a different winner. The first one is very simple to follow and it picks the Giants as the winner.

Step one: Go against any team that did not cover the point spread in their Championship game.

Step two: If both teams covered in the conference championships, take the team with most straight up wins going into the Super Bowl. This includes playoff wins.

Step three: If number of wins equal, take the underdog.

The other system which is predicting a Patriots win is more detailed and will require a little bit more work. Here is the Superbowl Super System.
