21 Goes Bust

Friday April 11, 2008
21 has been the top movie at the box office for last two weeks. It is about a team of MIT students who use Blackjack card counting to beat the casinos. The movie is billed as being based on Ben Mezrich's book, Bringing Down the House which I read when it was first published. I had high expectations when I heard that it would be made into a film. Unfortunately what seemed to be an exciting concept for a movie fails to deliver because of the over dramatization and unrealistic portrayal of a blackjack card counting team. Here is my review.

Students today are very clever people but I have to admit it is films like Oceans Eleven (The Rat Pack) that really take some beating.

Millions of people enjoy gambling. Yes for some it is can dangerous. But much the same could be made of movies and TV.

Bill Enjoy your writing immensely. Thanks for saving me a few bucks and a lot of time.I’ll stand on what I have already learned about the team. I did see a documentary with some of the originals in it.
