Roulette Can Be Fun

Friday May 16, 2008
Roulette is one of the oldest and most popular casino table games. Even though it has a high house edge compared to some of the other table games, it is still less than the house edge on the slot machines. The American Roulette wheel with its double zero has a house edge of 5.26 percent compared to the single zero European wheel with a 2.63 house edge.

Many experts advise against playing the game because of the house edge but it is not as bad as it seems. Roulette is more of a social game since the players are not competing against themselves or the dealer and it can be a fun game. If you enjoy playing Roulette there is one thing you can do when you play to stretch your playing time and reduce your exposure to the house edge: Look for a full table.

A large number of players at the table can add to the fun of the game but more importantly it slows the game down. At a full table you will be lucky to get 30 spins per hour. This means that the amount of money you are risking will be smaller than some of the faster games. It won't change the high house edge but it will cut down the time your money is exposed to it. You are also allowed to sit out on a spin from time to time which can slow down your exposure even more. If you are looking to maximize your casino playing time without risking a lot of money, choose a full roulette table with the smallest minimum bet. If you are new to the game, here is how to play Roulette.
