A Possible Triple Crown

Tuesday May 20, 2008
After Big Brown's impressive win at the Preakness on Saturday there is much anticipation that he may become the 12th Triple Crown winner if he can win the race at Belmont on June 7th. You can be sure that Big Brown will be a heavy favorite in the Belmont Stakes having easily won the first two races. The Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont are the World Series of horse racing. The general public who never watch a horse race any other time during the year will tune in to watch these races. Now with a potential Tripe Crown at stake the interest is even greater.

The Triple Crown goes to a horse who wins The Kentucky Derby, The Preakness and the Belmont. It has been 30 years since Affirmed won the Triple Crown in 1978. Since that time there have been other horses who won the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness only to come up short in the Belmont. Smarty Jones was the last horse to come close to winning the Triple Crown in 2004. Smarty Jones wond the Kentuck Derby and Preakness but lost teh Belmont.
