Venetian Tests Mobile Gaming Device

Wednesday May 28, 2008
The Venetian casino in Las Vegas began a three month field test of a mobile device that will let players gamble away from the casino floor. The wireless gaming device which resembles a PDA will allow users to bet on a variety of casino games including blackjack, baccarat, roulette, video poker and slots.

During the field test the devices will only be able to be used in the high limit slot lounge but if they are approved the use will be expanded into other public areas of the casino such as the restaurants, shopping mall or pool area.

I find the whole idea of playing casino games on a hand held device while I am visiting the casino to be a little ridiculous. If I wanted to play on a computer I could stay home and play online. Would you gamble on a wireless device while you were at the casino?

Here they are at last!!! :)
For a long time I had been wondering why they didn’t offer anything to play away from the casino floor. They do everything for you to sit and play (and pay) from the very moment you come in (some estates don’t even close the doors and don’t have any stairs, just make that only step – and you’re involved). Even in buffets you can’t forget about gaming for a minute – keno cards an boards are everywhere. Now they got it! The first step is to “involve” restaurants, shopping malls and pool areas. Next will go halls and rooms, then restrooms. And then we’ll be offered to get some USB-device and play at home with our club cards and direct connection to their servers. That’s life! :)

While the majority of players probably won’t participate, no one ever underestimates the laziness of the American public. Look at all the convenience food that saves just one step?
Also, casinos are ALWAYS looking for new profit centers. If wireless gaming brings them any extra profit from even a minority of players, then I bet it becomes the standard everywhere — eventually. Also bet that someone figures out how to hack into their network, too, after it’s out for awhile. LOL
