Electronic Poker Tables in Atlantic City
Wednesday June 25, 2008

Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City has become the first casino to install electronic poker tables. Two weeks ago the added 14 of the automated PokerPro tables, developed by PokerTek Inc in the East Tower gaming area.
Dave Polizzi, Trump Plaza's vice president of casino operations said, "We are the only game in town. We have a good opportunity to bring something brand new here as an attraction for the customers."
Although the initial reaction to the tables has been slow, there has been a positive response from most of the players who have tried them. Players were happy with the added speed of the games and the fact that you do not have to tip the dealer after winning a pot.

Trump is not the first. Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Mchigan has had them in their WPT poker room for 3-4 months now.
Motor City Casino and Greektown Casino in Detroit also HAD them. Not many people liked them. They ended up using them for low limit and single table sit n go’s. Now they are completely gone out of the Detroit casinos.
Davis, Ok. has them as well but are not very popular yet…
You miss out on holding your cards and playing with your chips and showing more strategy you might as well play poker machines or play on your computer at home!!
These machines are great, take the mistakes of the new people playing and the mistakes the dealer makes, making for a seamless poker experience. Don’t knock them, they are a breeze and very intuitive to use.
Just got back from a Alaska Princess cruise. They had 2 tables. Only 1 was active with scheduled sit-n-go tournaments. Took a little time to get use to them but overall I give it a thumbs up.
Be a Big Player!
Just saw one of these things @ the Trump Plaza and it made me sick. This takes all that is wrong with the world of online poker and puts it into the casino. All the little things an experienced table player has learned such chip tricks and other subtleties that they use to intimidate lesser experienced players all gets thrown out the window. I also noticed that there is a lot less socialization at these tables. Also the article says that players are happy that you don’t have to tip the dealer after winning. For one, tipping isn’t mandatory, and 2, I never have a problem tipping the dealer after I win a pot. Anyone with a brain knows a good dealer can make for a great poker experience. Finally my last bitch, a huge chip stack it way more intimidating that a large number on a computer screen. (What’s even better is when you’re still satcking your chips after winning a huge pot while the next hand is being dealt.)
