High Table Limits

Friday July 11, 2008
The other day I met a group of friends at the casino. Most of them are slot players and I asked a few of them if they ever played a table game. Two of them said they would like to try playing blackjack if they could find a five dollar table. They did not feel comfortable playing at any limits higher than that amount. Since it was a weekend I told them it would impossible to find a lower limit game.

They wanted to know why the casino could not accommodate the lower limit players especially since there were several empty tables that had a $50 minimum bet. They were surprised when I told them the casino made more money leaving that table empty waiting for a $50 player than it would make with a full table of five dollar players. Here is how that is possible.
