Cell Phone Ban Could Be Lifted Soon
Thursday July 24, 2008
Nevada gaming regulations prohibit the use of cell phones in and around the sports book area. It was originally designed to stop the transmission of sports betting lines across state lines who may use t he information for illegal sports betting. Enforcing cell phone ban has become a major headache for the casino personnel since the majority of people carry cell phone and many tourists are not even aware of the regulation.
The Nevada Gaming Commission discussed repealing the ban at their meeting last week and will make a final ruling at a later date. Control Board Chairman Dennis Neilander said,"This is a regulation that is antiquated and causes more problems than it is worth."
