Vote For Those Who Support Online Poker

Sunday November 2, 2008
I urge everyone to get out and vote on Tuesday. Remember if you don't vote, then you don't have the right to complain.

Throughout the last year I have been following the efforts of the Poker Players Alliance to lobby the legislature to legalize online poker. Some members of Congress have been supportive while others are against the legalization of online poker. The Poker Players Alliance has collected information about Members of Congress and their stance on poker. They have rated the members and published the list. If you are serious about legalizing online poker you should make sure to vote for those members who support it. Enter your zip code at this site to find out the rating for your present politician and vote accordingly on Tuesday.

I usually enjoy your columns, but I just couldn’t believe this one. You must be on the payroll of one of the online poker sites, to lobby for them like this.

It’s great to have the PPA lobby the Congress, BUT this goes too far! There are many more important issues for us to VOTE over than poker (even if you are a pro player!) I hope nobody actually took this bad advice (but I’m sure a few did.)

“Remember if you don’t vote, then you don’t have the right to complain.” Not true either, your rights are NOT affected. Some people even say they have a moral obligation NOT to vote for “the lesser of two EVILS”.

People usually get the government they deserve – or most of them, anyway.
