Learning the Language of Craps

Friday November 7, 2008
"Winner, winner, front line winner, pay the line take the don'ts. Coming out. World bets, horn bets C and E!"

A novice walking by the Craps table may get the feeling that players and dealers are speaking a foreign language. Many players will not try the game of craps because they feel that it is too complicated. One reason that Craps seems like a complicated game because there are so many terms and slang names for the different bets. Learning the lingo can help you understand the game. Here is a glossary of many of the terms you will hear at the Craps table.

(1) Ben jammin says:

Just walk up to a craps table, wait for the next roll, when a dealer will turn the hockey puck over black side up which says off(white side up means a roll is in progress)then put the minimum bet on the pass line,($5) and watch. You are not required to make any other bet unless YOU want to. You don’t need to know about odds, or hard ways, or field bets or any of that stuff to try the game. You’ll have a 98.6% chance of winning.
The problem with most methods of teaching Craps is too much information.
You don’t need to know about the don’t pass line, the vast majority(98%) of players play the pass line side so why bother?
Just keep it simple. The Craps staff(dealers) are happy to help you. They work for tips primarily and winners tip.
Go have fun.
