New Slots With Familiar Themes

Thursday November 20, 2008
This year as I walked around the floor of the G2E I noticed that many of the new slots had older themes. As I walked past the booth of slot maker Aristocrat I met up with a costumed shark who led me to a bank of slot machines. In front of the machines was a model who was handing out little rubber stress reducers shaped like a shark along with a shark shaped key chain/bottle opener. It took only a second to realize that the premier game being introduced was based on the movie Jaws.

The slot makers have concluded that even though many players like the new games, there are also many who are attracted to something they are familiar with. Basing a game on a popular movie, television show, or pop icon makes the game something that a player can relate to. Jaws, Dirty Harry, Star Trek and the Time Machine are just a few of the games I have seen of the floor of the G2E this year. Perhaps, a true sign of a cultural shift in our society is that there is now a slot game with an EBAY theme. I guess that shows hoe much the Internet has become a part of our life

whatever happened to the old 3 reel slots. the wife and I prefer them the most. we are having a hard time with the newer machines that seem to take our money faster and are less enjoyable to play.

My favorite is the Wizard of Oz.. I am drawn the games that I have a connection with so I guess the makers know what they are doing!

I also prefer the 3 wheel spinning slots. The newer video slots with multiple lines are just not the same. They are also designed to take your money faster. The makers are always looking for ways to steal more money from the gamers. That’s the reason casino revenues are down.
