Poker Sites Cut Off Kentucky Players
Sunday December 7, 2008
Tokwiro, he owner of Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet, announced that it will comply with a Kentucky judge's order and will stop doing business in the State. Kentucky is trying to stop residents from gambling online by trying to seize the domain names of 141 sites that are used to gamble and play poker in Kentucky. Judge Thomas Wingate signed a seizure order earlier this fall, and many of the sites are now appealing the ruling.
Rather than fighting the ruling,Tokwiro has agreed to implement an IP Block on its Absolute Poker and UltimateBet websitesThe Block will prevent players with IP addresses originating inside the State of Kentucky from playing, logging in or registering a new account, making deposits to the cashier, and transferring or receiving funds from other players.
