Avoiding Slot Hypnosis

Friday January 2, 2009
Several weeks ago I conducted a poll asking players to disclose the length of their average playing sessions. Twenty five percent of those that responded said they played for more than five hours at a time. Players have different reasons for playing marathon sessions. Some do it because they only get to the casino infrequently and they want to get in as much play as possible. Others I have talked to said they have gotten caught up in the game and lost all track of time. This is similar to a phenomenon many people experience while driving their cars known as "highway hypnosis."

As you are playing the slots you get lulled into a trance and forget about your surroundings and the length of time you are playing. If you are one who finds yourself playing for longer than you planned to, here are some tips you to avoid getting caught up in your game

I can’t believe that someone could play a slot for 5 hours. I wish I could – meaning that I always lose and don’t have the money to continue playing for such a long time.

If I at least had some return that allowed me to play for all those hours I would have a tremendous amount of comps.
