Pennsylvania Governor Wants Video Poker Legalized

Wednesday February 4, 2009
On Tuesday, Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell proposed legalizing video poker machines and using the money they generate to help pay the tuition for thousands of Pennsylvania college students. Rendell wants the Legislature to legalize the machines at bars and private clubs.

According to Rendell, there are thousands of illegal video poker machines in bars and legalizing them would not only generate money for the State, it would also free up time spent by State Police who have to investigate the illegal machines and make arrests.

Do you think this is a good idea? Do you favor putting slot machines in bars and clubs?

I agree, the state should get a cut, in Wisconsin, Law enforcement looks away for 5 machines and under, for local slots-video poker, and other thinly disguised gaming. Legalizing and tying them all together in a “Megabucks” type video poker would allow the state to gather licensing and control the proceeds. I like that idea.!
