Would You Report Being Over Paid?
Our conversation soon turned to ethics in general and someone asked what we would do if we were overpaid by a dealer while playing at the casino. While most of us believe that we are very honest, it was surprising to discover that most of my friends said they would not say anything if they were over paid. One person said that by not saying anything, they were actually helping the dealer out because if they did point out that the dealer made a mistake their boss would take notice and it could go against them. We debated this for awhile and I thought it would be interesting to take a poll on the subject. What would you do if you were over paid by a dealer>

Bill Burton,
Hello again,Joseph Ametrano here. This is a very interesting topic.I have had problems with Harrahs casino as you and many of readers are slowly finding out.I could honestly say with some of the employees they have working do forget things.I have caught hell for being honest when they screw up.I wanted to protect the dealer and their job and they made it look like I was stealing. So my answer to your questionare poll is “No, I would not say anything.”Think about this, when they cheat the player do THEY pay you?Just another issue that happened to me at good old Harrahs.
If you think its going to cause trouble, I’d report it. But be wary of them trying to point the finger at you as Joseph points out.

I always report a bad pay, (has happened several times) in either direction. There are cameras watching and if something ever happened, the video record of you being honest should count for something!
Besides, it is only good Karma to do the right thing!
I have actually been overpaid a few times at the blackjack table. In those instances, it was either an honest mistake by the dealer or the Dealer did it on purpose as we were tipping the dealer well. I played dumb and didn’t say anything.
On the other hand, I was cheated out of payment for a BJ hand in unusual circumstances. After making a fuss, the pit boss did not rule in my favor. I demanded that they review the tapes but they did not and stood by their decision. We immediately left the Casino (Caesars, where we had numerous instances of poor customer relations) and never returned.
