Caesars Entertainment was given approval by the Nevada Gaming Control Board for a joint venture with 888 Holdings LLC, an Israel-based internet gaming provider. Cassava Enterprises Lt. And Fordart Ltd, subsidiaries of 888 Holdings, provide online casino games like poker in Europe.
The move allows Caesars to push its WSOP brand name in overseas markets and opens the door to possible internet poker in the US in the future. Regarding the WSOP, pre-registration for the 2011 WSOP at the Rio in Las Vegas is now available online.
Discounted room rates for registered players start at $35 (Imperial Palace), and Rio rooms start at $69. Take my advice, spend the extra money and save the travel time and expense. Besides, the Rio's much nicer than the (choke, choke) Imperial and it's a nice discount from the last time I played a couple years ago when the rooms were $205.
Along with the pre-registration, you can now have some WSOP fun right on Facebook. Sure, you only win virtual bracelets, but the site does promise new features like tournaments, sweepstakes to win trips to Las Vegas and even chances at winning seats to live WSOP events.
The 42nd Annual World Series of Poker starts Tuesday May 31, 2011 at noon. The first event is a special $500 buy-in casino employee hold'em tournament. If you want to play, you must be a casino employee - and plan carefully, it's a two-day event. Good Luck!
