While neighboring states steal customers and the soon to open Revel resort in Atlantic City poses a looming threat to all of the city's casinos, Bally's, Caesars, Harrah's Resort and Showboat have all fired table games supervisors. Caesars Entertainment made the announcement in a statement released on April 21st and reported by the Press of Atlantic City.
Dwindling gaming revenues in the Garden State have legislators looking for any bone to throw their struggling casinos, so on Feb. 1, 2011 Gov. Chris Christie signed legislation into law that removes minimum staffing levels for casino table games. The move is aimed at what Caesars executive Don Marrandino called a chance to "level the playing field" with casinos from neighboring states that don't demand such heavy oversight of gaming tables. Hey, I understand the pressing problems Atlantic City casinos face, but at least give your press release readers some credit for reading between the lines.
Unfortunately, the salaries of a few floor supervisors on each shift will hardly offset the huge gaming revenue declines seen in Atlantic City over the past few years and Marrandino's comment that "the new model will give us the ability to better manage our games and react to the dynamic business environment, creating a better experience for everyone, especially for our customers and employees," is pathetic.
At what point does reducing staff create a better experience for customers and employees? And doesn't the largest casino operator in the world even refer to their valued players as "guests" instead of "customers?"
So for "guests" of Atlantic City's Bally's, Caesars, Harrah's Resort and Showboat casinos, let me know when your services go up and your entertainment dollars go farther because the casinos droped their prices due to their ability to better compete on the new "level playing field."
For you games supervisor's who have found themselves without employment, best of luck. Perhaps you can find a job in one of the neighboring states that have stolen all of Atlantic City's casino players.

Very sad that the s call second largest gaming destination have to come down to fired loyal employees to level the playing field. Why no going after top executives or fat cows that only drink perrier water and playing golf to do business. Always the working people get cut and fired. when big corporation going to share the big profits with their working class. They only come down when the day get cloudy and they need to justify their big fat paycheck, Why thei dont cut their salaries or bonus and let couple working families feed there children
Just returned from AC. My husband & I are slot players and the payouts on all these new machines should save the casinos enough to retain the supervisors. On a penny slot that has a minimum of 50 credits three of kind pays 1 cent. Who are they kidding? It’s moves like this that helps drive the players away.
