I know what you are thinking. Wow, that's a lot of chips Al has in his stack at the WSOP! Yes, I mean, no. Hey, the World Series of Poker is in full swing and the convention space at the Rio is packed with players. But that's not really my stack.

My track record at the WSOP isn't too good. Two events, no cash. Now the late night tournaments have been fine. I seem to do better with a smaller field.

In fact, a few years ago I beat over 2000 people in the first $1500 No-Limit Hold'em event of the year. And I didn't cash. They pay approximately 10 percent of the field and there were over 2300 entries. Bummer!

This year's first $1500 tournament only attracted 675 players. That doesn't take anything away from winner Harrison Wilder who picked up $205,065 and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

The WSOP runs for another five weeks and even if you don't play in any tournaments, there are great side games going 24-hours a day.The Rio is packed, but you can still book rooms at plenty of clubs around town.
