Illinois 10th casino opened this week in Des Plaines. It was such a successful opening that traffic around the casino eventually came to a complete standstill. Residents love their Illinois casinos.
Local police were on hand to help alleviate the jam approaching 3000 S. River Road (Des Plaines, IL 60018), but players took to parking their cars anywhere in the vicinity as the Rivers Casino parking garage filled up and closed.
The new casino runs 9 a.m. until 7 a.m. each day in a nearly 150,000 square-foot facility. 1050 slots wait for players to acquaint themselves with and feature plenty of the newest games on the market like Vegas Hits and Dirty Dancing, both 2-cent machines, although you have to bet 20 and 50 lines (40-cents and $1 respectively) on any spin).
There are about 50 table games and craps offers 100x odds. There are plenty of blackjack tables, but the high limit room is the only place to find games that don't have automatic shufflers. The dealers also stand on all 17's in the big bucks room, unlike the rest of the tables where they hit soft 17.
Someday there will be information about the casino available at the Rivers Casino website, but it isn't finished. Not sure how that happened, but somebody dropped the ball.
