March 30, 2004Nebraska Eyes Gaming RevenueA rivalry between Iowa and Nebraska over gambling dollars has been building for years and could soon result in casinos popping up on the west side of the Missouri River. At stake is more than $300 million scooped up at two riverboat casinos and a dog track in Council Bluffs. Casino gambling is illegal in Nebraska, but some lawmakers have proposed a constitutional amendment to legalize it. A group including Coast Casinos of Las Vegas, the horse racing industry, community developers and keno parlor operators is circulating a petition that would do the same. Read More. |
