Chicago Wants a Casino
Chicago lobbyists are drafting legislation that would allow Mayor Richard Daley to build a giant, city-owned casino downtown. The Chicago proposal will be added to a massive gaming expansion bill creating three other new licenses — two in the Chicago area and a third in Rockford, the Daily Southtown has learned. State Sen. Denny Jacobs (D-East Moline) hopes to introduce as soon as Thursday a bill creating new casino licenses for Country Club Hills, Waukegan and Rockford, permitting slot machines at horse racing tracks and allowing existing casinos to add 800 gaming positions. A total of 2,000 positions would be allowed at each casino. Read more from the Daily Southern.
