AGA Calls For Study
Monday May 8, 2006
The American Gaming Association is calling for a federal commission to study the impact of online gaming. Some consider this a softening of their previous stance regarding online gambling. The AGA is calling for the study to see whether online gambling can be effectively legalized and regulated in the United States.
AGA President Frank J. Fahrenkoph said that millions of Americans gamble online and most are "fending for themselves on illegal, unregulated offshore sites." He added that the AGA was not endorsing the legalization of online gambling but rather remains neutral on the subject. He just suggests that there may be alternatives to the bills calling for an outright ban on Internet gambling.
