Thanksgiving Day Poker Tournment on TV

For many Thanksgiving Day tradition is to eat too much turkey and then plop down in front of the TV set for some football. Those sports minded readers know that Detroit and Dallas always play home games on Thanksgiving Day. This year Detroit is playing Green Bay and Dallas is playing Miami. For those not interested in football, there is an alternative this year.

Thanksgiving Day November 27th, Fox Sports network will broadcast The Showdown at the Sands Poker Tournament from Atlantic City. The Players will be competing for one million dollar fist place prize. The show will air twice from 12:30 until 6:30pm and then again from 8pm until 2am. (This gives some the opportunity to watch both Football and Poker.)

Viewers can watch all the final table action. They can also get a close look at some of the colorful personalities that will be playing in the tournament. Fox will follow the players throughout the tournament in and around the gaming area.

“Somebody’s going to walk out of the Sands a millionaire.” said Tom Davis, president of the Sands. “From avid poker players to legends of the games, like Phil Ivy, Cyndy Violete, Linda Johnson and Jim Miller, the best players in the nation are flocking to compete in the most exciting event in the nation. And even more exciting is the fast action and intense drama of the competition will be broadcast on Fox SportsNet.”

This year millions of views tuned in to watch the Weekly World Poker tour on the Travel Channel and the World Series of Poker on ESPN. Those shows were all edited down to two our segments. Fox SportsNet is gambling that viewers want to see more action and will stay tuned in for a full six hours of tournament action.

This should prove to be a very exciting broadcast for poker players and non-players as well.
