VIVA LAS VEGAS LAS VEGAS, July 21,1999--In this newsletter we will report on:
THE VENETIAN REPLIES by Steve Meyer, Executive Director of Advertising, The Venetian Resort-Hotel-Casino
(EDITOR'S NOTE: In last Wednesday's Newsletter, Guest Columnist Paul Gastwirth had this comment about the Venetian: "Video poker machines are a rip-off as far as the payouts go. There isn't one full-pay machine in the hotel. Recommendation: Play at local casinos like Station Casinos, Fiesta or Santa Fe."
I have received the following letter from an executive at the Venetian and in the interest of fair play, here is the Venetian's official reply to the above. It is published with permission.)
In response to your e-mail regarding the video poker payouts at The Venetian I thought you might want to read the following response from someone in our Casino Marketing Department...
The Venetian offers 6/9 (full-pay Draw Poker) in every denomination quarters and above. The Venetian also offers 5/8 (full-pay Bonus Poker) in every denomination quarters and above.
Deuces Wild Poker, Double Bonus Poker, and Double Double Bonus Poker cannot be offered in a full-pay schedule at The Venetian because we offer .5 percent cashback, which is very aggressive as compared to any property in operation. Full-pay schedules with full cashback would create a machine that would pay back approximately 101.3 percent in worst case. We have offered the above models one notch from full-pay and with cash back they are just under 100 percent pay back.
Please refer to Bob Dancers review in GAMING TODAY (June 22 - June 28, 1999) of the Poker Machines at The Venetian, where he boasts about The Venetian having the best Video Poker on the Las Vegas Strip.
Please note that the Stations, Fiesta, and Santa Fe Casinos give little to no cashback and therefore, they do not reward players individually each and every time they put a coin in the machine, nor do they offer looser schedules than our full-pay schedules.
So in closing, all things considered, The Venetian is by far the BEST deal for your money and offers the most luxurious ambiance, best strip pay schedules and cashback, especially when compared to other local casinos.
Thank you. Steve Meyer
