I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Happy New Year!

Each year at this time I sit down and reflect on the past year and make plans for the year to come. Last year proved to be a very difficult time for all decent human beings around the world. The tragic events of September 11th touched the lives of everyone on this planet. I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to everyone who lost a loved one or was injured in the attack. It's often hard to find something good in the face of a senseless tragedy, but to see many countries around the world unite to bring an end to terrorism is a positive sign. I am optimistic for the year ahead.

Setting Goals.

Many people make New Years resolutions but I prefer to set goals. One of my top goals each year is to make this site as informative as I can. This year, along with articles about the games, I will be writing more book and product reviews to help you make a decision before you buy. As I have done in the past, I will never recommend a product that I have not used or believe in.

I enjoy teaching people how to get the most out of their casino visits. The best part about writing about the games and traveling to casino destinations is that I usually learn something as well, either through my research for an article or from the feedback that comes from you.

In January of 2000 I made the decision to learn how to play Texas Hold'em and shared my experiences with you as I learned the game. This proved to be one of the most enjoyable and profitable projects I have undertaken. After playing standard casino games for the last 20 years, casino poker opened a whole New World to me. This year I will continue to share my experiences with you as I work to improve my game, and help those of you who would like to give casino poker a try. I will also have a major announcement a little later in the year related to learning how to play casino poker.

Maybe this is the year you would like to learn how to play a new casino game. Its fun and it will add a new dimension to your casino visits. Those of you who only play slots may want to learn how to play video poker or a table game. Players who already play the table games may want to learn a new game. Kitchen table poker players may want to to try their hand at casino poker. Many times we get stuck playing the same old game. It's nice to be able to have a little variation, especially if you will be spending a few days in a casino destination.

I want to remind you to keep a gambling log for tax purposes. This may be the year you hit a jackpot over $1,200 that will require the casino to give you a W-2G form. It's easy to start a log at the beginning of a New Year, so today is the day to start yours.
