Also slated to open during phase one will be 135,000 sq. ft of retail space spanning two floors that will house 50 stores and restaurants. There will be a smaller 300-seat cabaret theatre named Elements, and 100,000 sq. ft of high-tech convention space that includes the Northeast's largest ballroom. A new 100-seat gourmet restaurant will feature water cascading down the front wall into a stream.

The Casino of the sky will connect to the present Casino of the Earth through a walkway at whose entrance will be a towering Tree of Life. The Tree represents the creation of the Mohegan Tribe.

Phase two of the project to open in April 2002 will include a 1,200-room luxury hotel tower that will include 180 suites. Every room in the hotel will be a minimum of 450 square feet and include a luxurious bathroom, fine bedding, and a full size working desk area with data ports and more.

34-Story Luxury Hotel

This 34-story hotel will be the second tallest structure in the State of Connecticut. It will also contain a spa, fitness center and 10,000 square-foot swimming pool.

After touring the new facility and seeing the model of the completed project, I am anxiously awaiting the opening of the new addition. The scope and magnitude of this new facility is hard to put in perspective. There is not another casino on the East Coast that will come close to this type of design theme that will abound from the New Mohegan Sun. It is being described as a "Legendary Destination." I think that is an appropriate description.

Mohegan Sun is located in Uncasville Connecticut.
