Vacation Packages
Last week I explained that Casino Rate is a discounted room rate offered by the Casino. I gave you some tips for obtaining it by joining the Players Club and getting rated at the tables. Another way to obtain casino rate and save on airfare is to take advantage of a Travel or Vacation Package.
A package plan combines a casino room and airfare to give you savings on both. In many cases you will be able to pick up a package for the price you would pay for airfare alone. This is quite common for people traveling from the East Coast to Las Vegas. A little shopping around can save you a lot of money on your trip.
There are many specials being offered all the time by different airlines and casinos. A good way to find these is to check with a travel agent. Some Travel agents like Make Your Bet specialize in vacation packages to gambling destinations. The Sunday newspaper in most cites is another place to find Vacation Packages. Most of the major airlines like TWA or American Airlines are now offering vacation packages as well.
One advantage of a vacation package is you are not obligated to give a casino a certain level of play per day. If you plan to do a lot of "Casino hopping" or site seeing you will not be locked in to one casino. On the flip side you will not be able to get comped for the price of the room because it is paid for in advance with your package. You can however still earn food and show comps.
If you don't require airfare you can still save money on rooms by using hotel "discounters." Discounters have access to blocks of rooms that they can book at a discount rate. You can get these and along with hundreds of other free coupons and lists by visiting Billhere.com. There are several online sites that offer discounted room reservations and deals. The Las Vegas Reservation System guarantees if a lower rate is found for the same dates and hotel booked, they will refund the difference immediately.
Room deals can also be found on the casino's web site. If you have a particular casino you want to stay at you can check their website for any specials. You can find links to casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and other states under the "Netlinks" on the main page of this site. I have just added a new "Travel " category to the netlinks as well. This should make it easier for you to find travel information when planning your next trip.
The more money you can save on your vacation plans will add to the money you can take on vacation with you.
