Its easy to get lost in some casinos especially when you are visiting for the first time or only visit occasionally. You may find yourself looking over a vast sea of slot machines and start wondering which one to play.
Years ago it used to be easy. Most slot machines were the reel type and you had a limited number of choices such as the Double Diamonds or Red White and Blue machines. They were all basically the same and were easy to play. Most games had a single pay line and some of them had a maximum of three lines. You just spun the reels and looked for the symbols to line up across the reels. You could easily determine the denomination and type of machine by reading the glass on the front of the slot. This is not the case with some of the new video slots.
The New Slots
There is no doubt that technology has made the new video slots more fun and much more entertaining but like I found out with all my gadgets it has also made them more complicated.
Even before you sit down to play them you can get lost trying to find a machine that you want to play. There are literally hundreds of different games to choose from. Each one of them has a different theme with a multitude of symbols on the video reels.
Once you sit down at one of the games you may find that you may find yourself lost trying to figure out how to play the game. Many of the new games contain a base games and some sort of bonus round which is activated by getting certain symbols appearing on the screen.
Here are a few suggestions that may help you find you way if you are lost with the video slots.
Slot Candles
The lights on top of the machines are called candles and the color of the lights will tell you the denomination of the machine. Since many of the new machines are multi-denominations the color of the candle will be the lowest amount that you can play. In most cases the corresponding colors are:
White for pennies.
Red for nickels.
Yellow for quarters.
Gold for fifty cents.
Blue for dollars.
As you walk around the casino you can quickly find the limit you want to play. This should help you from getting lost as you search for a machine to play.
Help Screen
All of the new games have a help screen that you can access. This help screen is your road map for the game. If you are playing a game you never played before it is a good idea to spend a minute looking at the help screen so you understand the game. The help screen is a wealth of information.
It will show you the pay lines for the game and explain how the symbols must line up for a winning spin. Many of the new video slots require that the winning symbols must start on the left reel and go to the right. The help screen will show you the pay table and how much each symbol is worth. If the game has a bonus round the help menu will explain what symbols activate the bonus portion of the game.
Unfortunately there is no GPS to help you navigate your way around the new slot machines but looking at the candles and reading the help screen before you play should help you from getting lost.
Until Next time remember:
Luck comes and goes.....Knowledge Stays Forever.
