Carson City is the capital of the great gambling state of Nevada. Over the years the city has had many different casinos, small to medium in size. Although nearby towns along highway 395 like Reno and South Shore Lake Tahoe have destination casinos, Carson does not.
Carson City sits in a valley at 4,800 feet above sea level and gets snow during the winter. The Sierra Nevada Mountains to the west stay snow-capped much of the year and entice gamblers and skiers to the area's larger casinos like Harrah's and the Crystal Bay Club.
Reno, 30-miles south-east of Carson along highway 395 also features a Harrah's casino as well as many other world-class gaming resorts like the Peppermill and the Atlantis. Carson City boasts 15 places to gamble and the oldest established casino is the Carson City Nugget.Carson City Casinos
