Winnemucca is a town of 7,100 people in Northern Nevada. As the seat of Humboldt County, it has history rich with western stories, cowboys, and Basque sheepherders. Interstate 80 passes through the city, where it meets U.S. Route 95.
The town sits at about 4,200 feet in the Santa Rosa Range and the winters can be snowy and cold. Summer temperatures often drift into triple digits, but average just over 90 degrees. Surrounding the town are ranches and mines. Casinos provide much of the employment for residents.
CasinosThere are seven casinos in Winnemucca, three of which have hotels. In the 1950's there were more than a dozen gambling spots, most with table games and slots. Today the town offers gambling for locals and the tourists that travel between Reno and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Model T Hotel Casino and RV Park (800) 645-5658 is located at 1130 West Winnemucca Boulevard. The hotel (Quality Inn) has 75 standard rooms. The RV Park has 58 spaces and the property features a swimming pool, arcade, live entertainment, a food court, coffee shop and ice cream shoppe.
The casino offers Three Card Poker and three blackjack tables plus a sports book. Of the 250 slots and video poker games, 51 are penny and 41 and nickle machines. Also found in the casino are IGT Quartermania slots, IGT Wheel of Fortune slots, and video keno.
Pilot Casino (775) 625-2800 is located at 5625 Route 80 West. This Pilot travel center has a Subway restaurant and offers a total of 68 slots.
R & L's Express Casino and Lounge (800) 465-4329 is located at 1985 West Winnemucca Boulevard. The Holiday Inn Express has 72 hotel rooms. The Dos Amigos restaurant has American, French and Mexican food on its menu.
The casino has 176 video and slot machines, including progressive slots and video poker. 29 machines are multi-denomination, and video poker machines include nickel machines up to $5 machines.
Sundance Casino (775) 623-3336 is located at 33 West Winnemucca Boulevard. Drinks are complimentary for players of the 127 slot machines. The machines include video poker as well as 44 multi-denomination slots and 45 penny slots.
Winnemucca Inn and Casino (800) 633-6435 is located at 741 West Winnemucca Boulevard. The Winnemucca Inn has 98 standard rooms and 7 suites. The property also has a coffee shop and a sports bar with a sports book. The casino has 118 slot machines. The machines are coinless and include IGT Statewide Progressives, Megabucks and Wheel of Fortune.
Winners Hotel and Casino (800) 648-4770 is located at 185 West Winnemucca Boulevard. The hotel has 117 standard rooms and 3 suites. The hotel features a children's arcade and two restaurants: Grandma's House and Pete's Coffee Shop.
The Casino has progressive bingo as well as a sports book and a single poker table. Other table games include craps, roulette, Three Card Poker, 2nd Chance Poker, Joker and Deuces Wild Poker, and four blackjack tables.
Winnemucca's oldest and largest casino also features over 200 slot and video games. The games are now coinless (ticket in - ticket out) and the gaming floor still has some of the old time video poker games. Other games include Betty Boop's Big Hit as well as IGT Quartrmania and IGT Wheel of Fortune.

Reno is 165 easy highway miles west of Winnemucca. Traveling East, Elko is 125 miles away, Wendover another 100 miles, and Salt Lake City, Utah an additional 125 miles (350 miles total).
